770 battery not charging

#1 Post by nanok » Sun Aug 28, 2005 10:07 am

the battery wouldnt charge since i got the machine. i finally got around to dismanteling the battery, i found one of the groups of three elements was dead (almost zero voltage), i replaced that group with two identical elements (it should not be a problem there are two instead of 3, each group is wired in parallel, and the three groups wired in a series), still no joy. ocasionally, the display on the laptop would indicate an arrow pointing to the battery simbol, i guess that should mean it is charging, however the metter still shows 0%; on those ocasions, the led on the chassis also stops blinking, and is constantlly on, that should mean "charging" also, as i have read.. i don't know more, as acpi is not available on the 770 :( , and apm is a bit to dumb to be of help ..

has anyone any idea about this? could it be the microcontroller int the battery that is malfunctioning? or maybe the charging circuit on the laptop? (hope not :( )...
