T43 Fingerprint Reader

New T43, had the fingerprint reader replaced by IBM and uninstalled/reinstalled new fingerprint software. Have checked and rechecked all BIOS security settings, IBM no help here. It did read the prints once when reader was replaced, then never again. Only reads 'slower' when trying to register prints. Anyone seen anything like this? Now they are suggesting replacing system board, more of a science experiement by IBM than a solution.

Having an ethernet cable plugged in seems to cause all sorts of problems.
