Rapid Restore....Won't

We've got an R40. The hard drive failed last week. IBM kindly overnighted a new one and it is installed with Windows XP.

We had been backing up to an IBM external usb drive with IBM's Rapid Restore.

The program now has been reinstalled on the new hard drive and opens and runs to the point when it should accomplish the restore.......and then, nothing.

IBM tech support, up through Level 2, is bewildered.

We need to access the backed up programs and files and move them across to our new hard drive so we can send out bills at the end of the month.

Any ideas?
