getting rid of password set up via floppy

#1 Post by mastermiaow » Tue Aug 30, 2005 12:45 pm

Hello

many moons ago I downloaded a programme that allowed me to set up a password prior to windows boot up. When I turned the computer on a message came up on with my name and address and I put the password in at the top. I am now trying to remove this but am having problems. I have tried via easy setup but am unable to remove the password - I imagine because I installed the progamme via a floppy. However I have forgotten the name of the programme I downloaded and I have lost the disk...... I have looked on the 600e downloads website and have come across personalisation editor. Is this the program I used???

Many thanks for any help

You need the Personalization Utility Diskette from IBM

Yes, that's what you need.

For the record:

Go to IBM support:
http://www.ibm.com/products/finder/us/e ... g=ddfinder

Enter your laptop's model, etc. and you'll be directed to a page where you can download the disk.

It will allow you to add your name and address, or whatever, to a boot screen on the laptop.

HTH. :-)
