OK, I have read just about all of the forum messages about what case is best for the T series laptop. I have made a decision on going with WaterField Design bags. Since none of the discussion threads dealt with the sfbags.com gear only, I thought it prudent to begin a new thread.
So, here are my basic questions for all of you WaterField Designs people out there:
1) The SFBags.com site recommends a size 17 sleeve case for the T42p with the 9 Cell Battery. However, if you go to http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=11491 you will see that beartracks has a link to pictures of his T43p with 9 Cell Battery in a size 15. If there is only a .2" thickness difference between the 2 machines then which size REALLY fits a T42p with a 15" screen and a 9 Cell Battery
2) Anyone have any of the WaterField Design Products trimmed in leather? If so, how is the leather quality?
3) Is the piggyback really annoying if your sleevecase has a flap?
4) How does build quality compare to bags like Briggs & Riley. I have been a road warrior for 7 years. After about a million air miles my Briggs & Riley bag looks as good as the first trip. Do these bags have this same build quality and longevity?
5) Anyone ever had warranty work done on their bag? How well does WaterField Designs stand behind their product?
6) I believe that the new sleeve cases have a pocket on the back of them now. There is not a product image for this on the website so I am curious what this pocket will really fit. Can I fit 2 notebooks in it? Can I fit a few magazines in it? Just what will it hold?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

3) I have the piggyback with the flap, and it hasn't bothered me, I just always attach the piggyback on the side of the case opposite the flap.
6) I was able to fit a couple magazines (2) and a spiral notebook without any problems, it is fine for that kind of stuff.

1. I have a T43 and the Waterfield Designs 15 sleeve case. I originally bought it for my T43+6cell combo, but recently added a 9cell as an extra battery. Because I primarily use the 6cell, I really like this size and I am happy that I do not have the size 17. That said, when using the 9cell I do find the fit to be a bit tight. I would not want a wider case however, and it absolutely does fit.
3. It does not annoy me and it can also be removed easily. Personally, I attach it to the side without the flap. Just make sure it is on the outside part of the sleeve when you are carrying it with you, otherwise it might be uncomfortable.
4. First laptop and sleeve case, but I feel good about the quality. It's a solid setup and I love the weight - nice and light.
6. The new pocket was a great surprise. I love it. I recently had it filled with several journal articles, two newspapers, train tickets and a map. You should be fine with two notebooks! I could have held plenty more myself, but the more you add the more space you lose for your laptop, so it might become a little difficult inserting it with too much in that pocket.

Thanks for the info. It sounds as if spwhitty is very happy that they own the size 15 and not the size 17. I do have one more question for you about the fit. Just how snug is the fit? Since the T42p 15" is 0.2" thicker than the T43p 15", I am worried that it may be too snug for me while perfect for you.
Thanks in advance,
Michael
