X41 Purchaser

#1 Post by glen11 » Thu Sep 01, 2005 3:03 pm

I am looking to buy an X41, thinking a 2525-6HU, and looking at one of the resellers they are offering non standard memory upgrades, I want to go the full hog and put in 1 GB. Is there any risks associated with this, is the saving worth it as compared to IBM memory upgrades?

Also with the fingerprint reader, can you have 2 people, or 4, registered for this? Or can you turn this feature off? I dont think it is a feature I would use much.

Decided to delay my purchase till I head to the USA in October but maybe that was not the best decision as I now find there is no units available, hope they will come available during September.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Glen

You definitely want to upgrade the RAM on your own. Check dealram and pricegrabber or just got to Crucial. Far less costly. No risks I see if you take your time and do it right. The fingerprint reader can be set up for each user, but I'm sure you could play with it by saying a persons fingerprint was really yours and have several users use the same profile but that kinda defeats the purpose, You don't have to use it at all if you don't want to.

Good Luck (if you can find one!),
