BUYING FROM BILL = POSITIVE EXPERIENCE

#1 Post by ragazzino » Fri Sep 02, 2005 12:19 pm

We just bought a top of the line T43p Thinkpad directly from Bill and had a positive experience. We paid him quickly and he delivered quickly, shipping the laptop via our Fed Ex account as we had instructed. Just wanted to provide some positive feedback for him for anyone consiering purchasing from Bill.

How much did it cost you? and what model was it?

Glad to see you're happy with your purchase. :)

It's not just the price! I've learned it's a matter of how much your time is worth. Bill can help you pick the laptop that's right for you. He can steer you toward overlooked features or away from little known problems. Shipping problems as far as delivery type and dates are not your headache anymore, so when Len-Oh-No! ships your laptop on a Thiursday you don't have to take off the whole following week because you don't have any clue when (or if) they can get it through customs. When Bill gets if he can deliver around your schedule so you will know when it is arriving. He can (for a fee) check over your purchase for defects so there are no suprises. All these things save the buyer TIME, and no matter whether you are the busiest CEO in the country, a student, or whatever, time is money. I think we all undervalue how much our time is worth. Not having the stress on you is worth some money too. One may think because they are struggling financially that they are getting the best "deal" by receiving the lowest overall price. That couldn't be farther from the truth! I've learned the hard way that a service such as that provided by Bill is quite valuable, and in the future if I have brain damage and decide to order another Len-Oh-No! manufatured laptop (new that is) Bill's service will have to be quite costly for me to buy elsewhere. The only reason I haven't been a customer from the time I found Bill's site is that I am a Florida resident, thus I cannot take advantange of the tax savings as other can. At about the same time as Bill informed me of this I was lucky to have found an IBM employee who was kind enough to share his discount. I thought I was saving a bundle, but I ended up not being able to own any of the 4 laptops I've attempted to purchase in the past 6 months because mine were received in such awfully poor condition (mainly lots of bad pixels and other screen issues). So I've had to scramble and put together a hodge-podge of used Thinkpads and others that are barely serving my needs. Nothing I have is what I want or really need, and it's going to take me some time to figure out what to do to get back on track. I should not have sold my T42's because I couldn't stand not having the latest T43p's, and I should not have sold my X31's and X40 because I just had to have X41's and X41T's. In the future when I feel as if I just have to have the latest models for my wife & I, I will surely go about it differently, and someone like Bill is going to be involved.

What is it worth? 1.7 Ghz, 768 megs ram. Warranty until May 06. Office Professional 2003. Lots of navigational software including THE CAPN. 40 gig Portable USB2 back up drive...no bad pixels and in great shape. Bluetooth and wireless built in.

Thanks for your help and hope all is well.
Regards,

Tim

knowing tim field for years, i can say that he takes good care of his thinkpads and has, since the earliest models..

i would guess his A31p is worth about $1000 give or take..
the A31p is unique in that it has two ultrabays thus is able to hold two HDD's and an additional UB battery..
or even THREE hard drives at one time..
the display is the super 1200x1600 flexview display..
i would ALWAYS put a warranty extension on any older thinkpad if for nothing more than peace of mind.. :)

due to the recent sale i can no longer sell accessories for anything but retail price..
never could..
this is not to say i won't set up other sources for accessories, but there is so little margin in these it is hardly worth doing it..

thanks for asking though, i sure appreciate it.. :)
