Help Needed With Full Screen Magnifier

#1 Post by danico » Mon Sep 05, 2005 10:21 am

Hello, all! I'm new here. I am trying to get the Full Screen Magnifier to work on my R40, but I'm not having much luck!

My computer is 15" with 1400x1050 resolution, type 2681-HSG. The high resolution is a big problem for my visually impared son. Even using extra large fonts, it is too small for him to see. When I started looking around for magnifying software I found out about the Thinkpad full screen magnifier, so immidiately wanted to check it out. However, when I press Fn+Space I only get a window of say 800x600 pixels in the middle of the screen, surrounded by a black frame, and the window is not magnified, just shows less of whatever I have opened and all fonts and objects are exactly the same size as they were with the 1400x1050 resolution! My expectation was that the magnifier would expand the window to fill the entire screen and actually make the fonts bigger?!

So I figure out I'm doing something wrong... I read the instructions on the IBM website and installed the latest drivers (released on 13 June 2005 version 3.14.0508) for On Screen Display 3.21.02 and Full Screen Magnifier 1.14. I have varified this with Software Installer "View driver and application version software".

This didn't solve my problem. I still get a small picture in the middle of my screen surrounded by a black frame. I see the icon in my toolbar which lets me sellect the "magnification" of 110%, 140%, 180% and 220% but nothing is magnified!

Help please! What else do I have to do?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Lemme take a stab at it: There's a BIOS setting about it, and there's some 'full screen magnification' setting in Windows' 'Video/Display' control panel.
Go search.

cheers,

Thanks for your reply.

I found the setting - in Thinkpad Configuration --> Display --> LCD I had not enabled 'Screen Expansion'
