what kind of LCD do t42/43 have? (is it S-IPS, MVA etc?)
what kind of LCD do t42/43 have? (is it S-IPS, MVA etc?)
hello,
i'm looking to get a new LCD, and i read that S-IPS type lcd reproduces very good color, but lacks in contrast.
i was wondering what my LCD is? (i have the T42 14 inch screen). i feel my laptop lcd is pretty good and if its not S-IPS i will be willing to get this comprimise since my t42 screen is serving me so well.
i'm guessing the flexview screen is an S-IPS screen since it has sucha large angle of view...
but what is mine? (i have a regular 14 inch screen 1400x1050 // 2372-3vu)
thanks,
fred

check this thread for a good comparison:

the 15" SXGA+ and UXGA displays on the T42 and T43's are all the IPS type (which Lenovo calls FlexView).
your 14.1" SXGA+ is not IPS.
IPS generally has better contrast (notice the trees in those pictures are darker on the 15" display), better viewing angles, etc.
drawbacks of the 15" FlexView displays include higher battery consumption and of course the larger form factor of the 15" chassis.

contrast is much better on the FlexView 15" LCD's. see these pictures I just took for a comparison:

LAG on Thinkpad Displays
Does the IPS/Flexview SXGA have noticeable lag? I hate lag, though i am a graphic designer and never play games. I am sitting in front of an MVA Eizo 17" Panel with vibrant colours, but horrible lag (28ms), if moving the mouse, it is getting very smeary..Esben wrote:I'd guess it's a TN based panel, judging by the lack of lag when playing 3d-first person shooters.
