T43 not identifying "current monitor"

Once again, presentation director has stymied me. I'm trying to set up my T43 (with Radeon X300) to use an external SXGA monitor via DVI through a port replicator and apply a specific color profile when it is using that monitor.

I can get the monitor to work OK, but when I look under display properties/settings/advanced/color management it shows the default TP LCD panel as the "current monitor". However, the drivers for the external monitor are installed correctly, and indeed that monitor is present in the list under display properties/settings/advanced/monitors, so why is it not being recognized as the "current monitor"?

As far as I can tell there is no option to apply certain icm color profiles using Presentation Director, so does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can set up my T43 to actually correctly identify which monitor is attached and therefore apply the appropriate color profile?

Should I scrap the Presentation Director software and just use the ATI Hydravision software? Does that work better with the X300?

None of me A22e, T23, T30 or T41 identified the correct monitor.

OK, so I'm not alone... but somehow I'd like to find some way of applying a separate color profile for the external monitor.

Is there any (free) software I could have Presentation Director run that would load a profile when the machine is docked?

What methods do other folks use to support multiple color profiles on a T4x, short of manually changing profiles? Any help appreciated.
