unless you can point me to this mythical bios update that isnt listed on lenovo's site.

version 1.22 was the last update

I doubt about the BIOS V4.0.
As I can see in IBM/Lenovo web site,the latest BOIS for T43 is 1.22
Could you tell us more INF?

My latest BIOS was version 3.17 (T42p), but still far from version 4.
Not that I am having any fan issues. When it heats up, it spins up. When it is cooled down, the fan spins slower. I guess, it is working already fine.
As the old saying goes: where there is fire, there may be smoke.

In this case: heat needs ventilation.

Yeah, when I was at the IBM website less than a month ago the latest version was 1.XX.
