Screen problem when low battery - r51

Hello,

I have a R51, series 1829 since a short time...(bought used)

I noticed that when the battery runs really low (<10%) a vertical stripe appears across the screen from top to bottom. This stripe does not disappear even when the battery is subsequently charged. When I shut down and restart however, the stripe disappears.

What is going on here???
