IBM A30 Fullscreen problem when running lower resolutions ..

Hi there, I've just got my self an IBM Thinkpad A30.
Recently I found out, that I was able to play counter-strike on it, and not only use it for my studies ... BUT! I got a big problem .. when I startup counter-strike (or any other game) it shifts the reslution down to ie. 640x480 or 800x600 and then the game is not running fullscreen on the monitor. The only thing that happens, is that the picture gets smaller, and u get a black "box" arround the "picture".

What I want, is that when ever I shift the ressolution down (or up) it will use all of the screen and not just resize the picture.

I hope that some of you experts out there, can help me or know any solution to my problem.
