question about "buzzing" noise whenever the screen
question about "buzzing" noise whenever the screen
Do anybody have this problem?
I get a strange "electrical" like buzzing noise for a second or two (very brief) whenever, the screen refreshes (i.e. change wallpaper). It also makes the same noise but randomly whenever I open "new screen" for browsing internet.
best
Scott.

I haven't heard it on my X21, but I've heard it on some Dells (IIRC, C600s) at my college.
Very annoying, it is.
I THINK it has to do with the inverter, but I'm not sure...

I once had my lcd inverter changed....
Anyone know a solution for this problem? As bheooefr commented, the noise can get very annoying.
Thanx

There is no solution to this. I had my T40 in for service (motherboard) and did ask to check on it. IBM states that certain inductivites used for filtering may create such noise under certain load conditions for the machine. Therefore, the noise is random and not always repeatable. The performacne is not affected, therefore it is not subject to service or replacement. I would not worry too much about it - computers create some noise after all (fan, keyboard clicks..) and if not in a very quiet environment, its hardly perceptable.
