T43p - maximum DVI resolution

#1 Post by kenr » Fri Sep 09, 2005 11:26 am

I've been reading all the postings I can find on the maximum DVI resolution supported by the T43p and am getting mixed messages about the maximum DVI resolution being 1280x1024 so let me ask this point blank.

WIth a T43p and a port replicator or docking station, will it support a Dell 2001FP monitor with DVI at a resolution of 1600x1200 without requiring me to use any non-Lenovo video drivers?

Assuming it can support 1600x1200, does Dock II, Mini-Dock and Port Replicator II all support it.

I have the dock and the T43p but have not tried this. According to some posts here, this issue has been resolved, and the dock's DVI will support 1600x1200. Even before that some people had success with 3rd party drivers. Again, I am not speaking form my personal experience.

Could you try it for me? I still don't have positive confirmation from anyone that it works.

Using a T40 and T43p I was able to run 1900x1220 on my Dell 2405W widescreen using DVI.

Ran quite smoothly with no problems on both machines.

So why did people say it didn't work? Were there new video drivers for the T43P very recently that removed the 1280x1024 restriction?

I have the T43 (not the T43p) with the Dock II and the Dell 2001FP. Goes up to 1600x1200 no prob.

And that's without any special drivers or additional PCI card in the dock? Anynoe know if this can also be done with the Mini-dock?

Again, I ran my T40 and T43p using the DVI on the port replicator II WITHOUT any external PCI video card or other adjustments at 1900x1200. I used the native factory drivers on the T43p. Forgot which drivers I used on the T40 but both worked well on the Dell 2405 widescreen at 1900x1200.

I believe that's 1920x1200 for the Dell 2405. And it runs perfectly the Dock II's DVI.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

You're correct that it's 1920x1200. I always forget the exact details when discussing resolutions but hopefully everyone knows what I mean (1900x1200 implies 1920x1200). It's getting too hard to memorize all these new resolutions, especially now that widescreen is becoming common.

Well now after reading how many people dislike the T43p I'm considering the T42p and would appreciate answers to my initial question for the T42p. Can someone please confirm the T42p with the latest Lenovo drivers can support 1600x1200 on the DVI port.
