X41T hardware speaker unbelievably loud...

#1 Post by Sushi-D » Fri Sep 09, 2005 5:25 pm

So I've used the hardware volume buttons on my X41T to set the volume down to one bar above mute, and yet whenever the machine beeps (not a Windows beep, an actual hardware beep) it's pretty loud. Not painful, but coming back from Standby definitely makes heads turn in my direction during a lecture or meeting.

Any tips to make the internal speaker more like other laptops?

P.S. -- I've tried the BIOS settings, but all I can do there is turn the beep OFF.... I wanted to have a beep during plugin/unplug, and suspend/resume, but have it be a nice soft beep, like on my old TP600E.

Same here on my X41 Tablet. You can turn it only on and off but plugging the power in, removing power or going into or out of "sleep" causes this beep and it IS too loud!

I turned the pc-speaker off. It's the only way but live with it and I better it silent.

On an unrelated note, my X41T seems to have been shipped configured with the Wave output on the volume control applet set to muted, so that I could not hear any Windows system sounds. I finally discovered that and unmuted it, but later I found it had somehow been muted again, weird...

Nothing's stupid.

Enter the BIOS (by pressing F1 when booting). Then look there somewhere. I'm sorry I don't remember where exactly is it. If you can't find let me know and when I'll be able to, I'll reboot the system and find it for you.
