T43p and External Speakers

I currently have 5.1 external speaker system for my PC which i plan to use for my new T43p. Since I am going to use it as my desktop replacement I just want to make sure I will be able to connect these. I am getting the Dock II to go with the t43p. Will the three connectors that go into the pc, connect into the dock II or is there something I need to do to make these work. Thanks.

I don't own a Thinkpad yet (still waiting on shipment) and I've never seen a Dock II, but I don't think the sound chip in your T43p supports 5.1 audio. Most likely you'll only be able to plug 1 of the 3 connectors from your 5.1 speakers, but you'll only get stereo sound. If the dock has a PCI slot then you can add a PCI card that supports 5.1 audio using the 3 plugs.

Or you could use one of those PCMCIA soundcards, most of them allow for 5.1 or even 7.1 sound...

I have purchased a siig firewire card to go in the pc card slot. Will I be able to add another pc card, ie. sb audigy 2 usb? I have the dock II plsu the t43p but was under the impression there was only one card slot? Any other options on the sound other than this? Or if I got both would i just have to switch cards?
