T42p strange problem with a/b/g card -- need help

#1 Post by WilsonF » Wed Jun 30, 2004 6:54 am

I have a strange a/b/g card problem with my new T42p.

The wireless can see the a or the g band from my dual-band access point, but cannot see both bands. Clicking on the atheros applet in the T42p task bar (looks like a bar graph) and pressing the find WLAN button, the T42 sees only the G (or sometimes only the a), and the T40 sees both. Both bands are broadcasting SSID.

I know the problem is not with the access point because a T40p with an a/b/g card sitting right next to the T42p (about 6 feet from the AP) and sees both.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on or how to fix it.

Presumably the T40p didn't come with the A/B/G card? So when you installed it, did you have to update the BIOS and/or driver? Are you using the same version of all related software on both machines?

Yes, same IBM a/b/g driver and same version of Access Connections on both. Don't know about the BIOS -- this is a T42, the other one was a T40. Wilson
