i was thinking about getting a 7k60. it's dell-branded, and so i'm not sure what consequences that has. but it comes out to $150 before tax and shipping.

it's the 60gb version, but ships in 1-2 weeks, according to dell. but that's cheaper than other people (only seller with it in-stock is zipzoomfly).

You should be able to use that hard drive with your ThinkPad. With the exception of the Dell branding and possibly slightly modified firmware, it's the same as a generic version.

I use a hard drive I got out of an old Fiery Print System, it is 10G. Used R&R CD's to format it, works great, using it right now.

I used to have a 20gb Hitachi drive pulled from a Dell Latitude in one of my ThinkPad's for some time until it just went kaput.

The 20gb Fujitsu drive in my 760 is from a Compaq laptop; it even has a Compaq spare part number barcode on it.

Right www.geeks.com are having a sale on laptop harddrives. They call it the Green Light Special, and I've seen prices way less than what you are about to pay.

thanks, but those aren't 7200 rpm hard drives. 7200 rpm ones are much more expensive
