annoying sounds

On an A20p Thinkpad, with an Intel PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter a pretty loud and annoying sound can be heared when a network transfer takes place.

Another annoying sound is the cooler. On other laptops I saw the cooler starts spinning only when the CPU is used say 30% or over. Is it normal for it to spin all the time?



If you know how to make those less anoying, please tell me.

A barely noticeable sound is made when the screen's brighteness level is not the maximum level. Do you have any idea what is making that noise? Is it normal?
