A question on UXGA in T43P

#1 Post by mzd » Wed Sep 14, 2005 9:24 am

Hi, when I set the resolution to be 1280x1024, I find the font is not crisp, and a little blurred. Do you know how I can get the fonts as clear as the native resolution situation (1600x1200)?
Thanks.

With LCD displays, you have to stay at native resolution. The easiest way to make things appear bigger is to go to Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> General, and increase your DPI setting to 120DPI (or higher via Custom).
IBM ThinkPad T42p (2373-7XU): 1.8GHz/1024MB, 15" UXGA, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.
T42 (2374-3VU): 1.7GHz/512MB, 14.1"SXGA+, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.

Remember to turn on "clear type" as well for LCD's

it is BEST to use some multiple (even divisor?!) of the native resolution..
changing 1200x1600 to 1024x1280 is not an even divisor so you will get some bluriness..

the video chipset is very good at doing this now, but it can't render that resolution as well as it can render its native resolution..

Hey Bill,

I don't know if it's changed with the T43p chipsets, but setting 1600x1200 to 800x600 still results in an aliased, fuzzy display.

more pixelated for sure..
and at 130% (1024x1280) it looks just fine to my eye..
not perfect but good enough for government work.. :)

i once forgot i had changed it and thought only that something was not quite right..
NOT that it was very fuzzy to begin with..
