Order Status timeline?
Order Status timeline?
I ordered a T43 (August model, not Express program) on Sept 6. THe order status page still shows "within 2-4 weeks" with no specific estimated ship date. I'm leaving for a long trip soon and was wondering folks' experiences with Lenovo shipping before or after the expected timeframe? Thanks

i moved this to the proper venue..
ibm or lenovo shipping is a big mystery to everyone, probably including ibm and/or lenovo as well as the customers..
you could get that next week or never..
either extreme is very unlikely..
most likely is 2 to 4 weeks and sometimes, in this case, earlier than 4 weeks..
which model did you order..
you DO know that there are other sources for new thinkpads..
from me to PC connection and others and some of them might have stock and they do NOT usually add sales tax like lenovo MUST..

I ordered an X32 from Lenovo. The web and e-mail shipping estimates were way off. basically it took 3 days to process my order, shipping took just 1 day from china to Ontario, California. Then my x32 sat in customs for 9 days. BTW, UPS's info. on tracking international shipments is very messed up. you won't be able to tell when it will be released or what is going on. but for the customs issues i would have had my thinkpad in less than a week.

During those 10 days the shipment date has been pushed back from the original shipment date of 28 September 2005 to 3 October 2005 to 11 October 2005 and today the shipment date is 14 October 2005.

I throw in another complexity:
I ordered through Exec Relations (it's replacing my old laptop which they couldn't repair) on 9/23, and was told about 10 days. It's now estimated at Oct 13 (much to my disappointment).
Considering they have my old dead laptop... you can tell, I'm in a bad situation. They took my laptop Sept 6 (after 2 failed Solectron repairs), so I've been told it's going to be "a few more days" for quite some time.

I loved my old thinkpad, well designed...
but after this "service" experience, I'd definately hesitate to buy another. If they break, it can take 2 months to get a replacement!
I was struggling with the idea of 3-5 days with no laptop the first time I sent it for repairs. Now I've been going several weeks without a laptop. Far from ideal.
I seriously hope service improves.
