Hi,
I am running XP Pro and wanted to watch a movie from my laptop on the TV. I have the newest drivers from the ibm website and have tried setting the output options to all available (PAL A-Z, NTSC, etc), however I always only get black and white output. Could this be a TV issue, or is there something I am doing wrong. If it's the former, is there anything I can do about it? It's a fairly modern Sony TV.
any help appreciated!
T40P - can't get color output on TV, always just b&w!

update to previous post - managed to get it in colour! now my only trouble is getting video to display on the TV, because normal things (windows, files, etc.... ) display fine - it's juts moving images.
also, is there any way to get the sound over, or do I need an extra cable for that? (I have an s-vhs cable if i'm not wrong).

Mirror or Extending
You might be extending your desktop when you need to be mirroring or maybe even changing your video out put to external only. I have a sony laptop and to get video to display on my tv I had to just mirror my desktop, but I have seen some applications not play video on 2 screen (TV and LCD.) I am not sure if this will fix your problem but it something to look into.
About the sound, you are going to need another cable to go from your headphone jack to the tv. I think you want an 1/8th" to RCA cable. SVideo only sends the video single and doesn't handle audio.
I hope this helps!

For the audio, you need another cable yes.
