wireless frustration

#1 Post by llama_thumper » Wed Jun 30, 2004 5:43 pm

hope anybody can give me a hint...

i'm leaving in a day and cannot get my wireless setup to work.
i have a t40p and the newest ibm access as well as wifi drivers.
today at the airport i could not connect - the network scanner couldn't even locate any network, whilst windows did.
previously, it was able to locate them, but not connect (so i cleaned everything out and installed it again... which has led to the above).
can anyone give me any hints on what to do to _completely_ get rid of all my wireless settings, drivers, etc, and make a fresh, nice, clean install and get things working? i have managed previously to connect to my home network, however i have always failed to connect (at least using IBM access) to public wireless hubs, which is extremely frustrating as I dont get any internet access when I could be getting it.

so mayve the way out is just to completely deepclean the notebook of any wireless settings whatsoever and make a fresh start?
i would appreciate any comments/ideas/suggestions!

btw, my card is the "802.11a/b Wireless(MPCI) (IBM Dual-Band and 11a/b/g Wireless Mini-PCI Adapter )".

any help appreciated!

Not sure what the trouble is, but IBM support can probably walk you through it. Or you can de-install and re-install to see if that clears things up.

If worse comes to worse.. just get rid of the IBM stuff and use the Windows one

If you use IBM Access Connections make sure Wireless Zero is turned off. Also you can remove Q826942 and Q815485 Windows Hotfixes that had trouble with the wireless dirver.
