Extra harddrive in Second harddisk adapter?

#1 Post by Boegh » Fri Sep 16, 2005 8:35 am

Hi.
Ive got a spare 80gb drive.
Then i was thinking about buying one these: http://www5.pc.ibm.com/dk/products.nsf/ ... enDocument
But before i do, does the harddrive need to be IBM branden like eg. WiFi cards?
Or can i use what ever harddrive fits me?

Kind regards

The only thing to make sure is that the hdd fits into the hdd adapter (it does not matter whether or not the drive fits you :-)

In the good old days some 2.5" hdds were higher than others (12mm vs. 9.5mm or so). But afaik all modern drives will fit into the ultrabay adapter.

Does the HDD adapter have a cover or does it leave the drive bare? I'm thinking of getting the adapter but I need to swap it regularly and I'm afraid leaving the drive bare may damage the drive.

The drive goes in the adapter (once if you wish) and then insertion and removal of the adapter is an adapter issue, not a drive issue. ... JD Hurst
