Help needed in choosing the right thinkpad

#1 Post by sairam313 » Wed Jun 30, 2004 6:01 pm

Hi,
I have been shopping around for a while for a thinkpad and haven't been able to decide on the right model for my needs.

My requirements are - >=512 MB Ram, >1.6 Ghz Pentium M, 802.11 a,b,g wireless, >40GB and SXGA+ monitor. Bluetooth is a 'nice to have' feature.

I have decided on the T- series but not the model. Which model do you think is the best? Can you suggest some place where I get the best deal?

My bugdet is under 2K.

Thanks and Regards
Sairam

I don't know if you will be able to find all the features you are looking for under $2k. If you need to stay under $2k I would go with the 2378-FVU and if you have any extra money upgrade the memory, Bluetooth, and warranty (you can read how to do it on these forums.) I know it doesn't have the IBM a/b/g wireless or bluetooth, but I think you will be hard pressed to find a T series with them for under 2k. I think the 2378-FVU is the best deal if you are on a budget.

I know your budget is limited under $2k, but for $2290 (from Bill, the host of this forum), you can get a 23733UU with 1.7 CPU, 512MB RAM, SXGA, a/b/g/bluetooth, ATI Radeon 9600 64MB, 40GB HD, and 3 year warranty.

Only thing missing is the bluetooth and Ram
Upgrade with crucial for about $110
