Battery life - x30 v. x31

#1 Post by epbrown » Wed Jun 30, 2004 8:36 pm

I've been looking at getting an X series and chief among my requirements is good battery life - this is the weakest area on my current subnotebook. Googling reviews, I'm seeing wide variances reported for the X30 - some reviews say 4 hours for the standard battery, while one says 2 hours. What's the truth?

My X31 in super battery saver mode gets about 5 hours of battery life. This is with low intensity applications like Word, without wireless usage.

I get about 4.5 hrs on my x31 with the included battery.
Easy to add second battery if you go with ultrabase or add extended battery without the base - that gives you 8-10 hrs.

I get around 4 to 4.5 hours on my X30 with standard battery. Only doing low power tasks like e-mail and word prossesing and power manager set to super power save.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'm thinking I'll go with the X30 (specifically I'm looking for a 2672-11u, but one of the other 1.06 ghz models is acceptable) and use the price difference to max the RAM and so on.
