EBAY vendors need to be evaluated by you prior to purchasing anything, including batteries.

Check their feedback, the number and that it is almost all positive. Also, pull up their recent transactions.

Do they sell computer batteries normally, or is this a one-time offering???

Also, are these guaranteed genuine Thinkpad batteries, or the "equivilent" of some part number?

Send a question to the seller. Do they reply to your question?

Finally, batteries lose storage capability as they sit around.
It can be a "brand new" battery, but if it has sat a year, it has lost a percentage of its storage capacity.

EBAY is a crapshoot, but you can minimize your risk if you are careful.

As to your "are vendors on Ebay trustworthy"?
There is no way to answer that. Some are and some are not.
There will always be risk. Usually you can get at least most of your money back if you get taken, but it can be a huge hassle. If you get a lousy battery, are you willing to spend months correcting the problem?

Hopefully I have helped you make your odds better of a good transaction.

If you get a decent batt for 50 bucks, you might want to take the risk. But I heard that some people sell original batt with IBM warranty.
