Let me summarise - those who actually have or have seen the Z series think they are good and those that haven't think they will bring about the end of the world as we know it.

IMHO if you like current ThinkPads but prefer widescreens just get a Z series and I don't think you will be disappointed. However, I would probably say that on my own personal ThinkPad rating system Z series are on par with the later R series but T series is still on top.
