Controlling the windows "ctrl+alt+delete to logon"

#1 Post by akerman » Thu Jul 01, 2004 7:35 am

Hey
When I close the lid of my t41p, it goes into standby. When I open again, a windows log-on screen greets me, and I have to press ctrl+alt+del and type in my password to enter windows again.

This is fine, and just as I want it.

But - the logon screen also comes on sometimes, when the computer has just been idle a few minutes, and the LCD has turned off - how do I change that? I only want it to come on after a stand-by resume..

Check Control Panel->Display Properties->Screen Saver Tab to see if screen saver password protect is enabled.

Try this:

go to admin tools / security policy / local security settings / devices: allow unlock w/o having to log on (enable) or soemthing like that.. maybe a field for automatically log out for idle period?

wild guess?

Control Panel -> Power Options -> Advanced Tab

Uncheck "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby".

Hi jeff - (as I said) I want it to prompt for password when resuming from standby.
I tried to uncheck it, just to see how it would affect the log-on prompt - it STILL comes on when the lcd has been turned off a while.
So apparantly it has nothing to do with stand-by or not - I really don't know where that log-on prompt is coming from? It's not because of screensaver, and it's not because of standby.: :(

In the power saving options in battery maximizer, it could be the "turn off monitor" setting

Do you log into windows using the the welcome screen? You can disable that in Control Panel->User Settings->Change the way users log on and off. Uncheck the options in there, maybe that will help?
