2668p2u - New Thinkpad t43p

I just got my new 2668p2u and love it. I do have two questions that I was hoping someone could help me with.

1. I am using a dock ii since I am using this at home and on the road. When I boot up the system goes into hibernation if the laptop is closed. The screen will not show. If I open the laptop, my monitor works fine. Very strange, not sure what to do. I should be able to put laptop in dock closed and not have to open it up.

2. On the dock II it seems that none of the usb ports are working. Is there anything special to do when using all four ports? I took two out of the back and put into the side of the laptop and they work fine. Though, nothing in the back does.

have you tried changing your power settings so that when you close the lid, the computer stays on instead of hybernates?
