IBM 20L0265 memory compatible with 600 or only 600X?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

IBM 20L0265 memory compatible with 600 or only 600X?

#1 Post by cure » Thu Sep 22, 2005 10:08 pm

The IBM site lists 20L0265, 128 MB PC100 memory, as compatible only with the 600X. But a seller is trying to convince me that it is backwards compatible with 01K1153, 128 MP PC66. I am looking for memory for my Thinkpad 600 (2645-A1U PII updated to 366 mhz) that is PC66 and don't want to have a problem after the fact.

Thanx.

I won't guarantee anything, and if you are dubious, stay away. There are plenty of places to buy memory that will guarantee compatability.

That being said, I recently tried a 256MB PC100 stick from my 600X in a 570 (that is supposed to use PC66 and uses the same chipset as the 600) and it did work for the light testing I did.

So... in my experience, it might work, or it might not. :) Sorry to be of so little help.
