Hello,
I'm still troubleshooting my slow T41, so I decided to run memtest86 to see if the RAM checks out.
When I run Memtest86+ (ver1.2) it tells me the following:
RAM: 99Mhz (DDR198)
FSB: 99Mhz
The laptop has 768 Mb of RAM (1x512 and 1x256) both PC2700, should it therefore not measure it as DDR333? Why is it being measured as DDR200?
Anybody mind explaining this to me.
thank you
Memtest86+ on a T41

The RAM clock should actually be 166 MHz (Since it is DDR and transfers data on the rising and falling edge of the clock cycle it is effectively 333 MHz, or 2x 166 MHz).
The FSB measurment is correct. The Pentium M and 855 chipset interface through a QDR bus (4x transfer per clock) at 100 MHz (effective 400 MHz).
Download SiSoft Sandra and see what that tells you about your system. MemTest might be reporting incorrect values for some reason.

Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
Thanks K. Eng,
even though Memtest86 reports my desktop's RAM speed asccurately, it looks like it struggles with the Pentuim M. I think all is OK then.
Sisoft Sandra reports the following:
Chipset 1
Model : IBM 82855PM Odem Host-Hub Interface Bridge
Front Side Bus Speed : 4x 100MHz (400MHz data rate)
Total Memory : 768MB DDR-SDRAM
Memory Bus Speed : 2x 166MHz (332MHz data rate)
