Thinkpad motherboard help needed

#1 Post by Quattro » Sun Sep 25, 2005 8:04 pm

Well, I've acquired a dead X24. I thought I would post here, as other models may share components.

It does not power up, however, the green light (LED closest to the power button) comes on when power from the battery or AC Adaptor is present.

I have now taken it completely apart, and traced the problem down to 3 possible sources. I think the 3rd picture is causing the problem, however, the first two may be linked. I'm thinking a liquid of some sort may have been spilt, although it does look relatively clean inside, and the case has never been opened.

I'd really like to save this thing from the garbage bin, so ANY help or insight would be greatly appreciated. It is in perfect condition otherwise, flawless shell, nice keyboard, perfect LCD.

4800
[symbol that looks sorta' like a MS Windows symbol]NY[triangle]
[a round dot]L22B

The symbols are the same as on the chip next to it (4812).
The orientation is reversed, it is upside down relative to the 4812 chip.

Good luck!
