#1 Post by jlingo » Wed Sep 28, 2005 12:13 am

I just downloaded the new BIOS using a Thinkvantage installer. and when the computer restarts, it ask
2. Update System
3. Update Model

I got confused how come there are two options. Which one should I choose?

Thanks

Update system I believe but wait for someone that does this often.

I can't remember what BIOS I'm using, is this one new/what's the release date?

edit: nevermind i just saw it, and its brand new.

Also does it cure the Error: 2010 problem? I'm at work at the moment so I didn't have a chance to try it out with other harddrives yet.

No idea about that but I just ran the update and you do choose Update System.

Nice new BIOS on my freshly wiped and installed system.

it seems that there is only minor changes... :
* (Fix) With BIOS 1YET56WW (version 1.21) or later, system will shutdown on Wake On Lan with a Ultrabay Slim Second Hard Drive adapter, even if no password is set in the second hard drive.
* (Fix) POST error appears on power-on, just after power off at a password prompt with a newly attached USB strage device.
* (Fix) System may not start with some USB devices, attached to docking station or port replicator.

Nothing to do with fan behaviour / 2010 error message...

I experienced problems with wireless after updating it to a newest version Thinkvantage Access Manager 3.81. It says that the wireless driver is running on this system is a different version from the thinkvantage access manager. Any solution to this? Anybody experienced similar problems?

How are you doing with 2010 error? Does it corrupt files? I wasn't daring to keep my non-lenovo harddrive with 2010 since I heard about possible data corruption due to SATA Bridge. I'm using this laptop for work, so I can't really jeopardize my data. Do you have any problems besides the error message?

Thanks

Update model lets you change the model number of the ThinkPad, i.e. the 2668-xxx or 2888-xxx or whatever.

You probably have solved this by now, but if not..............

I believe you are getting the message that the wireless driver version you are using is not compatible with the newer version of ThinkVantage Access Connections. Go to the following page and look for the compatible driver for your wireless adapter, click on the link and download. It is best to uninstall Access Connections, reboot, uninstall your wireless adapter driver, then install the new wireless adapter driver, reboot, install the new version of Access Connections, and reboot.
