IBM a/b/g card installed but not found by Windows XP
I've got a T41p originally purchased for corporate use that has the official IBM 11A/B/G Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter (part number 31P9701/91P7301) installed and has wireless enabled in the bios (v3.17).
Unfortunately Windows XP refuses to recognize it, it doesn't show up in device manager or when using the automated driver update tools on the official Thinkpad support site.
Are there configuration options in XP that can disable the ability to find devices like the wireless adapter? Is there any way to force XP to find installed hardware? The Add New Hardware tool does not find it.

No devices in Device Manager have exclamation points or x's. Two entries for the a/b/g card show up, both only when "show hidden devices" is checked. One entry says "11a/b/g Wireless Lan Mini PCI Adapter-Net Firewall Miniport Interface", and the other says "11a/b/g....-Packet Scheduler Miniport".
I also know that the company that purchased these laptops specifically disabled the card somehow, there are thousands of them set up exactly the same way. Even the original bios was different, there was no option for enabling wireless. The "IBM Access" button also brings up different options (Load Windows XP or Rapid Restore) than the normal retail versions.

If the entries show under hidden devices, it usually means a card is not physically installed or it is installed improperly. Did you install the card yourself or did you know for the fact that the card is there?
