"resume on time" feature work on t40?
hi,
I use t40 2373-8cu w/ win xp + sp2 (dual boot:RH9.0).
I am wondering if I can make "resume on time" work.
I installed power management driver and battery maximizer. I enabled "resume on time" in bios to give a specific time. I waited automatic resume after I put my machine on standby mode. Nothing happened.
Let me know if anybody use this feature and works!
thanks

I'm guessing, but I imagine the Resume on Time in the BIOS is not supported by Windows. It's probably supported by some OS's.
However, you can accomplish what you want by scheduling a task. Go to Start > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks. Launch the Add Scheduled Task wizard and after several screens choose 'Open advanced properties for this task when I click finish.' Next click on Settings and choose 'Wake the computer to run this task'. As far as choosing which task to run, you can choose something simple like open Notepad or a Command Prompt.

hi,
there were two problems that I had.
1. error message occurs when I make a schedule.
"task scheduler error 0x80070005"
-> I googled this and try to follow ms instruction (need admin password!)
2. I put my laptop standby mode. It seems to wake up but LCD wasn't turned on.
I think this is enough for me to use this scheduler. I plan to backup my data with this feature.
thanks for your help, GomJabbar!

I use Task Scheduler like this as an alarm clock. My task is to play an MP3 file on the hard drive. I have discovered that you need to create the task under the same user account that the laptop will be in when you go in standby. If the task is created in one user account, but you go into standby in a different user account, the task may run, but the LCD will not come on. As far as I remember, if you move the mouse pointer while the task is running but the LCD is dark, the LCD will come on, but you have to enter the current user password to get back to the desktop.

now it works!
thank so much! Now it works.
