Trackpoint Scrolling with Java

#1 Post by Tokyo » Fri Jul 02, 2004 12:39 am

Does anyone got the scrolling feature working in Java? I mean you press the middle button and scroll with your trackpoint. When I'm using webstart applications it scrolls extremely slowly, with Netbeans it doesn't work at all. At work I'm using a mouse with wheel which works with Java without problem.

Any ideas? I'm using a T42 with java 1.4.2_04. Thanks,
Tokyo

i'm experiencing the same issue with my X61. Can anyone help? I've already tried adding rules such as this

*,*,matlab.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9

to tp4table.dat in the system32 folder, to no avail.

FIXED

OKAY! I have finally fixed this; posting the solution for any other tortured souls who happen to come upon this problem as well.

My problem actually was that I was adding the rules to the wrong tp4table.dat file. The best way to find out where the tp4table.dat file is that your computer is currently using is by going to mouse properties, then to the HARDWARE tab, then highlighting the trackpoint entry and clicking the properties button. Scroll down to find the tp4table.dat entry, and then open it up and add rules as needed. The rules I added were in the "Java support" section, and look like this:

Code: Select all

; Java support
*,*,java.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,1,9
*,*,javaw.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,1,9

*,*,*,*,*,SunAwtCanvas,WheelStd,1,9
*,*,*,*,*,SunAwtFrame,WheelStd,1,9
*,*,*,*,*,com.ibm.eNetwork.HOD.SessionFrame,WheelStd,1,9

*,*,matlab.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,1,9

just FYI, my tp4table.dat turned out to be located at C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Trackpoint\tp4table.dat. IT COULD (and probably will) BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU, so follow the instructions above to find out which one to edit! It may not necessarily be the one located in the system32 folder.

Hope this helps.
