IBM T43 1875 Upgrade From A 40 GB To A 100 GB Disk Drive

#1 Post by Jonathan » Sat Oct 01, 2005 2:45 pm

I would like to upgrade my IBM T43 1875 Notebook Computer's 40 Gigabyte 5400 RPM Disk Drive to a 100 Gigabyte 7200 RPM Disk Drive.

I would purchase a 2.5 Inch 100 Gigabyte Disk Drive and install it into a External USB 2.0 Disk Drive Enclosure.

I would then use Norton Ghost 9.0 and Copy the Entire Contents of the 40 Gigabyte Internal Disk Drive onto the External 100 Gigabyte Disk Drive.

I would want to copy all of the contents of the 40 Gigabyte Disk Drive including the Hidden IBM System Partition as well as all the System Programs, Applications, and Data.

I would the swap the two Disk Drives and make the 100 Gigabyte 7200 RPM Disk Drive the new internal Disk Drive.

Is the best System Software method for accomplishing this task?

Also, how do I get around the System Error Message that will appear each time the Computer Boots up when it does not recognize the internal Disk Drive Type in the System BIOS since the Disk Drive is not an IBM Thinkvantage System Product?

Thank You.

Jonathan

Acronis also makes nice disk cloning software. I'm not a big fan of symantec.

you could try to update the new version 1.23 BIOS.It may fix the Error Message problem. But I am not sure about any thing.
