DVD stutter - t23 win2k

#1 Post by ian campbell » Fri Jul 02, 2004 11:36 am

I've been trying various players (Power DVD, DVD X player Pro, Media Player Classic [gnu], win2k DVDplayer ) And they all stutter with playback.

I have checked that my drive has dma enabled. An I think I have the
latest driver for the gd-s200 dvd drive.

What else can i try? which dvd decoder would work best on my system?

thanks.

For what it's worth, I had this problem on my desktop (an old Dell Dimension XPS T750r).

The only way I could get any DVD software to stop skipping was to lower the audio acceleration to bare minimum (one notch above no acceleration).

Control Panel -> Sounds & Audio Devices -> Audio Tab -> Advanced Button under Sound Playback -> Performance Tab.

There is a slider you can adjust for audio acceleration.

If you have 802.11 built into your machine, update the wireless firmware.
