Scambled Screen after Monitor Turn Off

#1 Post by levimax » Sun Oct 02, 2005 9:32 pm

I have a problem I have not seen addressed in the forums. I purchased a used t41 several months ago and use it daily mostly in a docking station. It seemed to work perfectly but on problem has come up using it without the docking station.

When the screen "turns off" either "automatically" according to power settings or by pressing fn-f3 if I turn the screen back on (press space bar) it comes back up with the right half of the screen completely "scrambled" (fast moving lines and illegible). The only way to "fix" it is to either re-boot, stand-bye, hibernate, or even restting a display property. If I do any of these things the screen comes back perfectly.

This happens every time and is very consistent and repeatable.

The computer is "stock updated configuration" and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video adapter (ati radeon 7500) and drivers and nothing changed.

Any ideas? Is this convered by warrantee (2 years left?)

Thanks for any help

Here are pictures of the problem. I found an IBM service center nearby but since I use the computer everyday I would sure like to see if I could solve it without dropping it off for several days.

External screen is perfect even if LCD is scambled.

Thanks
