Small bright spot on the screen of my t42

#1 Post by Vasant56 » Mon Oct 03, 2005 9:11 pm

I've had my t42 for about a year now, and I just noticed a bright white spot in the middle of the screen. I'm sure it came recently. It looks noticable mainly on lighter solid backgrounds. Essentially it just looks like that part of the screen is brighter than the rest.

Is this a hardware problem? Would IBM replace it?

Yes, it is hardware. It is sometimes called "white spots", search this forum, I think people were able to get IBM to replace the LCD.

It may be caused by components behind the LCD pressing on the LCD, it slowly develops over time, not uncommon. Some Apple PowerBooks have such a flaw too, google it.

I had the same problem, an almost round 5mm bright spot, depending on the size of the white spot, "the number of pixels affected" IBM will replace the screen under the defective pixel policy.
