hmm, two pcmcia... for?...

#1 Post by ExitCode » Mon Oct 03, 2005 10:00 pm

Hi,

my first post at this forum, therefore a big hello! to everyone.

first of all, sorry for my bad english...

Recently I got a Thinkpad A21m, it is my first laptop and everything works
just fine, which Im very happy with it.

however, a thought is around my mind.... it has two PCMCIA slots, and is
great, but with what sense if I can't plug two cards at the same time !?

or probably there should be a method which Im missing...(?)

is there some kind of hub(!), or adapter, available I can use to have two
cards connected simultaneously ?

Thanks for your time and any help!
Kind Regards.

You can use both slots if you use Type I or II cards, which are things like memory cards or cards that have an ejecting jack. Type III cards are thick cards that perhaps have jacks built into the card, and fills up the entire slot.

ok, I understand, thx for reply.

hmm, and isn't available somewhere and extension adapter which let me plug two TypeIII cards ?

something like:

laptop <- [pcmcia female ----- ~4cm pin-to-pin extension -------- pcmcia male] <- card

:?

I own a pcmcia-ethernet and a pcmcia-usb2 cards which I would like to have always connected

There are Type III extenders, but since Type III is physically thicker than the card slot itself, the entire card has to sit outside of the notebook.
