T43p sounds louder when running off Battery than Adapter?

Are you guys experiencing the same thing? My T43p fan is running a lot louder when my thinkpad is running off battery compared to running off AC Adapter. Why would this happen? it doesn't really make sense, it should sound even more quieter on battery because the ATI is clocked down, also the CPU is running only at 800Mhz.
