what is the major difference between 14'1 and 15 T42p??
Im considering to get 14'1 inch model because of portability. and some people say that 15 inch one is better (brighter and etc) than 14.1.. im confused! anyone knows the major difference???
1. Are you going to carry the rig around, say, more than three times per week, in your backpack? Use it in airplanes and buses?
If the answer is YES, get the 14 inch, it really makes a difference.
2. What is the type of jobs you will be putting it to? If you do a lot of Photoshop, DTP, CAD, or similar stuff - you will probably have to consider the 15 inch and highest possible resolution.
I've found that for my jobs (translation, i.e. two-three Word windows open at a time, two-three other windows of auxiliary programs such as Trados and Multi-term floating) I've found the 14 inch 1400x1050 of my lappy to be just ideal. The weight and size of the machine are considerably lower than in the case of the 15 inch and this you will notice when you really carry it around.

The 14.1" is a bit thinner, and lighter and obviously smaller in the other dimensions too. If you travel a lot, or use it in tight places, it will help to have the smaller machine.
But, the 15" is still pretty thin and not heavy at all for a 15" laptop and I have no trouble carrying it around for extended periods of time. I find that if a laptop is under 6 pounds or so it doesn't really bother my shoulder even if I carry it around all day.

X31, T43p (on sale soon I think
), T400
Is the 14 incher really that much thinner though? I just recently acquired one of the 15 inch T42ps and I notice that it definitely isn't thinner than the old Tibook I have been using for the past several years. It's not a huge deal for me, as I have no problem carrying it around in my bag, but I do wonder how the two really compare, anyone have some images of the two side by side?
Also, how does the battery life between the two differ?
