Which R50e?

#1 Post by gforce » Wed Oct 05, 2005 10:26 am

My friend is interested in purchasing an R50e. He is interested in the following models:

1842SVU
1842QFU

Is there any difference between the two?
Current: 1. T400 - 14" WXGA+ LED - T9400 - 4GB DDR3 - 320GB HDD - Mobility Radeon 3470
2. T42 - 14" XGA - P-M 745 - 1.5 GB - 60GB HDD - Radeon 9000 - biometrics
Previous: ThinkPad T43, X32, X61, R50e

One has a Pentium M 725 and the other a 725A. I notice that some of the new low-end notebooks that still use the 855 chipset now have Pentium M 715A and 725A, but are otherwise identical. Probably a new revision?

Ah, there's a tecbook.pdf that describes the different CPU's. Says the A CPU's requires improved processor cooling because of higher Thermal Design Power.

Oh...that was certainly informative. I guess I'll recommend the 1842SVU model then.

Thanks for the help.
