Unable to read 1GB SD Card - please help

#1 Post by sthapit » Thu Oct 06, 2005 1:21 am

I just bought a T43, and I bought a SD card pcmcia reader. It works fine with my 256MB card, but doesn't work with my Lexar 1GB SD card, so I'm having to connect my camera to my laptop each time. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

I suspect it is the reader. Does the reader say that it supports 1GB cards?

it doesn't say it supports 1GB cards. But then again, it doesn't say it supports 256MB cards either. It just says -

Try getting a different reader (or different card), not all SD cards and readers are fully compatible with each other.

hey...

i'm assuming your 256MB card is a 'regular speed' one while your 1GB is a 'high speed one'. i currently have a 1GB SanDisk UltraII that was NOT readable in my regular PCMCIA adapter, but my other 128/256MB cards would read fine.

the only PCMCIA form factor card reader that supports high-speed SD cards are the CardBus ones made by delkin. more info here:
http://www.delkin.com/delkin_products_a ... rdbus.html

i have the SD-only reader (http://www.delkin.com/store/catalog/pro ... gital.html)
and it works like a dream. transfers are SUPER FAST as compared to a regular PCMCIA reader.

these are a little more expensive, but do a http://pricegrabber.com search for the best price out there.

hope this helps!

I agree with try another reader. I have had an older reader that would not recognise some of my newer cards. Got a new reader and worked.

thanks. ordering one now will let you know if it doesn't work. i'm thinking of getting this one. it's supposedly the fastest one available.
