My new ibm bluetooth card is not detected!
I got the bluetooth modem with the fru provided by gman and installed it. However, under device manager, while I have a modem, the bluetooth dosen't appear. I can not figure out what the problem is. Anyone have any ideas (no devices with a ? mark either).
edit:
I noticed that in this post:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=674
somone said to be sure to get the origional bluetooth card, not the bluetooth II. I have a T41...is it possible the link gman provided was for the bluetooth II card and it is not compatable with my computer???
I used this fru: 91P7315

Nabeel, Bluetooth is on the modem CDC card
Eric, I'm not sure, but I think you just need to turn it on in Access Connections. At least I had to on my new T42 before I could see it.
This link for the T40 and Bluetooth seems to say the same thing:

I'm not sure about the different versions of the bluetooth, though. I'm sure someone knowledgable will answer.

X21 (upgrade: 384MB ram 60GB 7200rpm)

LOL! wow...thank you so much. It was in access connections
I thought since it wasn't in the device manager I had a problem...but it turns out the computer can't even see it before it powers on. Thanks a million. BTW, for anyone whose interested, I had to install the bluetooth antenna too, and it is alot easier then you might think if you have the patience to do it slowly and carefully. A word of warning however. Everyone stresses to make sure you organize your screws as you take them out to make sure they go back in the right place...do this carefully! I did it, but by the time I was inside the LCD I hade like 30 screws laying around. To make a long story short, I swapped two screws, a shorter one for one slightly longer, and ended up going right through the palm rest!
Thanks again everyone!

so you had a non-bluetooth model thinkpad and retrofitted it to work with bluetooth? what about the bluetooth LED?Eric wrote:BTW, for anyone whose interested, I had to install the bluetooth antenna too, and it is alot easier then you might think if you have the patience to do it slowly and carefully. Yeah, how much did it come out to be total with the replacement covers? Maybe I'll do that later on in the summer or something when I have more money.
So you take out the current modem card and put in the bluetooth+modem card?
Got a linky to the manual? I'm interested now..

Not sure if there is an html doc on ibm's site, but it is in the maintenace manual pdf file, page 91 (I was curious earlier, and went looking for the replacement procedure
