T43, Both Bluetooth stacks got installed?

#1 Post by alpuzz » Sat Oct 08, 2005 12:48 pm

Hi,

Recently, I did a clean install of XP on my T43 2668-75U. I let software installer set up most drivers including the IBM Bluetooth stack. The Bluetooth radio is apparently off by default so after installing the stack, I went into access connections and enabled the radio. The hardware wizard came up and maybe this is where I made my mistake, but I let it do its thing. The end result was that now, I have a tangled mess of Bluetooth stacks. The Microsoft stack was apparently installed as well, and the Microsoft stack seems to have control. I want to disable the Microsoft stack and use the IBM one instead. Does anyone know how to go about this?

Thanks,
--Al

In the wireless networks tab of your wireless connection properties there is a box that says "allow windows to to configure wireless settings" uncheck that.

Mike, that's relating to the 802.11--not the bluetooth. Besides he's asking about the drivers, not the management utilities.

Al: I had a similar problem with the Bluetooth II/III stack on the T42. Here's an excerpt from instructions for installation of that stack--it may help you.

After restarting the computer, turns on the Bluetooth LED and loads the Integrated Bluetooth device driver.
Note: On Windows XP with Microsoft Standard Bluetooth software installed, you must perform the following steps in order to complete the installation of the Integrated Bluetooth II software.

# Turn the Bluetooth power on.
# Click Start, select Control Panel.
# Click Performance and Maintenance, then click System.
# Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
# Double-click Bluetooth Radios.
# Double-click Integrated Bluetooth II
# Click the Driver tab, then click the Update Driver... button.
# Select Install from a list or specific location then click Next.
# Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install, then click Next.
# Select the driver without the Digital Signed icon, and click Next.
# When a pop-up window appears, click the Continue Anyway button.
# Click Finish to close window.
