Cooler T42

#1 Post by shaling » Sat Oct 08, 2005 1:09 pm

Hi all,
I bought a 1.4GHz Pentium M CPU from ebay. Does anyone know if this CPU will work in a T42 which came with a 1.6GHz CPU? Intel classify the 1.4GHz as a lower power CPU over the normal Pentium M 1.6GHz and higher.

Appriciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks.

Is it a LV Pentium M? If not, I doubt it will make much difference if your cpu runs at 600MHz most of the time.

Wow, why would you change the 1.6 to 1.4?
1.6 does not get that hot does it? I have it and the computer never goes beyond slightly warm.

Possibly to extend battery life?

Plus reduce heat so that fan runs less often.

You guys are right. I don’t think it’s a Low Voltage version. My default application for this CPU is to upgrade by media server and that’s what I think I’ll have to do with it now. There are too many versions of Intel’s PM CPU! Thanks for all your help.
